The City of College Station has an immediate opening for an experienced Electrical Substation & Metering Superintendent to join our team of amazing professionals as we serve our community through our electric utility. This positon reports to the Assistant Director of Electric Utility, and will direct and coordinate the design, operation, maintenance, and construction of electrical substations; manage and supervise the system meter division in the installation, operation, maintenance, and testing of distribution and transmission metering equipment; and ensure ERCOT, NERC, and other protocols and compliance requirements are being met in relation to the City's substations and transmission system.
This is an amazing opportunity to make a huge impact on the successful operation of our city's utility services. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field), and five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in electric utility power system operations including two (2) years of related supervisory experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. In addition, knowledge of electrical distribution and transmission operations and knowledge of the methods, materials, equipment, and practices used in the electrical utilities maintenance, construction, and administration pertaining to substation, protection and controls, and metering will ensure the candidate's success in the role. It's also essential to have a knowledge of electrical engineering as applied to electrical substations, protection and controls, and distribution and transmission metering with a demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication. The selected candidate must maintain a residence within a 40 minute response time of the Utility Service Center within 6 months of accepting position.
A preferred candidate will have a working knowledge and/or experience with SCADA systems.
