The Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) Department of Pediatrics is actively expanding their clinical faculty for the Division of Medical Genetics. Positions are available at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor levels as faculty of the Keck School of Medicine (KSOM) of the University of Southern California (USC). Salary is commensurate with qualifications, experience and accomplishments.
Candidates will provide consultations in the prenatal, intensive care, hospital ward and outpatient settings. Ideal candidates would have experience in both medical and biochemical genetics.
The candidate will work with a team of dedicated physicians, metabolic nutritionists, nurses, genetic counselors, and social workers. Biochemical Geneticists would also work closely with the biochemical diagnostic lab team.
These recruitments fall in the context of CHLA’s expanding efforts to enable genomics to inform care across a lifespan. In addition to a tradition of broad genetic care for children from neonates to adolescents, CHLA has concentrations in fetal-maternal medicine, neurogenetics, cardiogenetics, oncogenetics, ophthogenetics, skeletal disorders and management of storage disorders. Providers will also work closely with our newly formed personalized care program (PCARE) to integrate genomic medicine into all aspects of pediatric medicine. CHLA is a regional leader in delivering gene and cell-based therapies, providing additional opportunities for candidates. Consequently, additional expertise in electronic health care record development, phenotyping, bioinformatics, collaborative research and/or clinical trials are desirable.
We will support candidates to develop clinical and academic areas of excellence and would encourage the implementation of clinical multispecialty programs. Advancement in academic careers will be supported by strong mentorship and can often be assisted by intramural funding. Relocation expenses are provided, and the position includes a generous benefits and retirement package.
CHLA and USC are equal opportunity, affirmative action employers. We greatly value diversity and are committed to building a vibrant and culturally diverse community of faculty that reflect the patients and families that we serve. Individuals from underrepresented groups in medicine are especially encouraged to apply.
Applicants must have an MD, DO or MD/PhD degree, be board certified in Pediatrics and/or Clinical Genetics and be eligible for an unrestricted California Medical License. Additional certification in Medical or Clinical Biochemical Genetics is desired for biochemical faculty.
Founded in 1901, Children's Hospital Los Angeles is ranked 5th in the world among children's hospitals by Newsweek Magazine and highest in the western United States by U.S. News & World Report.
